on january 1, 2011, shinee performed @ olympic gymnastics arena in seoul part of tour, shinee world, followed various cities in japan throughout 2011. on january 25 , 26, 2011, group participated in japan leg of smtown live 10 world tour in tokyo, continued on 2 concerts in paris @ zenith de paris, 3 concerts in tokyo @ tokyo dome , @ madison square garden in new york city. on june 22, 2011, group made debut in japan japanese version of replay , sold more 91,000 copies in first week. subsequently certified gold riaj selling on 100,000 copies. became highest number of sales recorded oricon south korean group debut @ time.


on june 19, shinee made history becoming first asian artists perform @ abbey road studios in london, holding japan debut premium reception there. in july 22, 2011, shinee started japan debut premium reception tour , held several concerts in various cities across japan. on august 28 , october 12, 2011, 2 japanese remakes, juliette , lucifer, released, respectively. on august 9, 2011, shinee took part in effort african children. groups joined united nation s secretary-general, ban ki-moon, in african children project co-organized korean red cross society , korean unicef committee.


in november, 2011 shinee invited opening act of 6th london korean film festival, took place @ odeon west end theater. group held hour-long gala concert open festival tickets selling out within minutes. marked first time korean artist(s) had held independent concert in london.


the group s first japanese studio album, first, released in december, 2011. featured 5 new songs in addition japanese remakes of 7 released korean songs. regular version of album featured theme song of drama strangers 6, entitled stranger , bonus. album certified gold riaj selling on 100,000 copies. on december 8, taemin, onew, , key debuted writers , released travelogue, children of sun , containing stories trip barcelona, spain. members shot photos , wrote commentaries themselves. shinee participated in album 2011 winter smtown – warmest gift cover of song last christmas . compilation album sm artists released on december 13, 2011.


shinee held commemorative concert in honor of successful release of first japanese album, first, @ tokyo international forum hall on december 24, 2011. live concert took place 3 times in order accommodate 15,000 fans won lottery attend. performed total of 6 songs including japanese debut singles, replay (kimi wa boku no everything) , lucifer , , heart . on december 28, 2011, tower records japan announced shinee had won artist of year award @ k-pop lovers! awards 2011. shinee s fourth korean mini album, sherlock, digitally released on march 19, , physically on march 21. sherlock became fifth sold album of year in south korean on 180,000 copies sold. on march 26, 2012, shinee, alongside labelmates, became stockholders of s.m. entertainment. received 340 shares each (value of around $13,600 each member).

the japanese remake of sherlock released in japan on may 16. group started first japan nationwide concert tour, shinee world 2012, on april 25, 2012. tour had total of 20 concerts in fukuoka, sapporo, nagoya, osaka, kobe, tokyo , hiroshima. tour set record people in attendance korean act s first japan tour total of 200,000 people. on may 20, 2012, shinee participated in smtown live world tour iii alongside label-mates @ honda center in anaheim, california. shinee held second solo concert, shinee world ii, beginning in seoul on july 21 , 22 @ olympic gymnastics arena. shinee released original japanese single, dazzling girl , on october 10, 2012. single sold 97,111 copies in first week , chosen theme song japanese tv series sukkiri. on november 19, 2012, along actor kim soo-hyun, shinee won ministry of culture award @ south korea s ministry of culture, sports & tourism , korea creative content agency s (kocca) annual award show, korean popular culture & arts award @ seoul olympic hall. shinee attended 2012 mnet asian music awards in november, 2012, held in hong kong, winning best dance performance - male group latest korean single, sherlock (clue + note) . shinee released first japanese ballad single (sixth overall), 1000-nen, zutto soba ni ite..., , concert video album shinee world 2012 arena tour on december 12, 2012.
