early career , world championship wrestling (1987–1992)

after debuting in 1987, neu traveled europe compete catch wrestling association under ring name cannonball grizzly in 1989.


upon return united states in 1991, neu joined world championship wrestling. made debut promotion on may 11 episode of world wide wrestling p.n. news, rapper gimmick fashioned after p.m. dawn, defeated terry bronson in 44 seconds.


he began brief feud against world television champion stunning steve austin. @ great american bash, news , bobby eaton defeated austin , partner terry taylor in scaffold match. during house show on june 21, news inadvertently injured dave sheldon, performing under ring name angel of death. injury came when news botched broken record finishing move during match, splashed sheldon s knees instead of torso, sidelined sheldon entire year in order recover. result, news taken off television, feud austin dropped, , used solely @ house shows , sporadically @ pay-per-views. despite this, news faced austin in match world television title @ clash of champions xvii on november 19, unsuccessful in winning title.


after feud, news moved down card , on december 21 @ starrcade, news teamed steve armstrong in losing effort ron simmons , thomas rich. on january 21, 1992, news made final pay-per-view appearance, won first , singles match on pay-per-view in wcw, defeating diamond dallas page @ clash of champions xviii. following this, news wrestled solely on house shows before being released on march 15, 1992.


catch wrestling association (1992–1998)

after leaving wcw, neu returned catch wrestling association in late 1992 under cannonball grizzly ring name , gimmick. on november 5, 1995, grizzly , john hawk defeated august smisl , ulf herman win world tag team championship first time. on december 16, grizzly , hawk lost titles smisl , tony st. clair. after loss, grizzly began teaming cousin bruiser mastino, tag team being known brotherhood. on july 7, 1996, grizzly , new tag team partner jesse james armstrong won world tag team title before losing them august smisl , ulf herman on august 3. after title vacated, grizzly , wildcat brookside won title on december 21 after defeating tony st. clair , mick tierney in tournament. hold title until vacated in july 1997. on october 10, 1998, grizzly face brookside determine claim vacant intercontinental heavyweight championship, lost match via countout. neu left promotion in late 1998.


extreme championship wrestling, hiatus , return (1999, 2000–present)

on september 17, 1999, neu, under p.n. news ring name , character, debuted in extreme championship wrestling in losing effort spike dudley. news joined da baldies, heel stable composed of wrestlers bald. @ november remember, da baldies (news, spanish angel, tony devito , vito lograsso) defeated new jack , hardcore chair swingin freaks (axl rotten , balls mahoney) in handicap match. on november 19, news , lograsso lost hardcore chair swingin freaks in loser leaves town match, ending neu s stint in ecw.


on november 17, 2000, neu, cannonball grizzly, returned wrestling , won european wrestling promotion s first-ever hardcore knockout tournament after defeating hercules harrison in semi-finals , big tiger steel in finals. ten days later, won ewp world heavyweight championship after defeating bam bam bigelow. on november 26, 2003, grizzly lost world heavyweight championship thunder. on december 17, 2011, grizzly defeated thunder reclaim ewp world heavyweight title. on october 6, 2012, defended world heavyweight championship against fit finlay, although match ended in no contest , resulted in grizzly retaining world heavyweight title.
