unveiled @ 2005 new york international auto show, hybrid gs 450h (gws191) joined gs line in 2006 2007 model year. first mass-production rear-wheel drive luxury hybrid car. powertrain included naturally aspirated 3.5-liter 2gr-fse v6 engine mated electric motor , continuously variable transmission. powertrain made use of lexus hybrid drive system of integrating electric , gasoline engine motors, giving gs 450h super ultra low emissions vehicle (sulev) emissions rating. in markets, however, car purchased @ least 1 option package, raises price several thousand dollars. rear-mounted battery consumed significant trunk space, improved in 2009 when lexus redesigned trunk area increase space forty percent, 7.5 cu ft (210 l) in 2007 , 2008, 10.6 cu ft (300 l). gs 450h went on sale in japan on 16 march 2006.
