1994–1996: formation

1996–1999: glee

in march 1998, glee released internationally albeit changes: ceci n est pas une chanson became instrumental called une chanson ; french song, forest , reworked several english verses. international version has 19 tracks. unreleased songs rainshine , carry on , old school .

after signing capitol records, bran van 3000 began massive touring schedule. started across canada, zigzagged across united states in bob dylan s tour bus. every day, band waiting confirmation of show dates. dates confirmed day before , band have drive ten hours next gig, find posters rolled in coat check of many venues instead of on walls. inadequate tour planning forced band play in front of 20 50 people night. things got better.

in europe, emi booked band months ahead of time there adequate promo. band enjoyed larger crowds , got rockstar treatment in every country in western europe. opened massive attack, björk in sports arenas, pulp , moby when got home.

in july 1998, drinking in l.a. reached no. 36 in uk singles chart, becoming first transatlantic hit. in august 1999 single re-released after song featured in popular tv commercial rolling rock, , peaked @ no. 3 in uk.

2000–2001: discosis

in 2000, e.p. bergen temporarily quit bran van 3000 make solo record: airport lounge , work on hbo movie scores: dead awake starring stephen baldwin , swindle starring tom sizemore , dave foley of kids in hall.

in summer of 2001, bran van 3000 released album discosis. song astounded featured final recorded performance soul legend curtis mayfield before death , became successful canadian single collective. other collaborators on album senegalese singer youssou n dour , reggae artist eek-a-mouse. song go shopping featured on soundtrack mexican film y tu mamá también.

2002–2006: hiatus

as of summer 2002, band s web site indicated not working on new material or touring, nor did band have plans so.

2006–2007: rosé

unbeknownst fans in 2006, e.p. bergen contacted audiogram , publishers obtain initial financing of third album. later announced bv3 working on third album, rosé, released in canada on october 30 , in on november 27, 2007. rosé co-produced james di salvio , sara johnston collaboration of fatlip, max-a-million, swanza, chris opperman, noel osborne , others. album written in los angeles , recorded @ depeche mode s studio , in hollywood @ steve vai s studio. on july 1, 2008, original group got together, on stage, @ montreal international jazz festival, playing songs rosé of previous hits, in front of crowd numbering around 180,000.

2010–2012: garden

after death of friend , father, bobby di salvio, james got collective , confirmed new album on august 2010. garden released on october 19, 2010. since di salvio , parts of group touring through montreal , canada, collaborating different singers , instrumentalists pierre-luc cérat, nick hynes, pascal lepage stéphane moraille.
