denis made transition car racing in 1994 while competing in australian club racing series. worked way club ranks winning every race entered. in 1999 invited series organizer join asian formula 2000 championship. in first race @ johor circuit, denis qualified 5th on grid , finished 5th in race. 2 years later, became full-time formula 2000 racer , clinched 3rd overall in series. in 2002, became overall champion of 14 round series winning 3 races , qualifying in pole position twice, going on break 2 lap records along way. doing this, denis established himself first singaporean win international motorsports title.
