lúcia moved porto in 1921, , @ 14 admitted boarder in school of sisters of st. dorothy in vilar, on city s outskirts. on october 24, 1925, entered institute of sisters of st. dorothy postulant in convent in tui, spain, across northern portuguese border. lúcia professed first vows on october 3, 1928, , perpetual vows on october 3, 1934, receiving name sister maría das dores (mary of sorrows).
she returned portugal in 1946 (where visited fátima incognito) , in march 1948, after receiving special papal permission relieved of perpetual vows, entered carmelite convent of santa teresa in coimbra, resided until death. made profession discalced carmelite on may 31, 1949, taking religious name sister maria lúcia of jesus , immaculate heart.
because of constitutions of community, lúcia expected converse little possible persons without, nearest relatives, unless conversation spiritual, , should seldom , brief possible , have nothing worldly affairs, nor speak of them... . has led people, such fr. gruner of fátima crusaders, believe in conspiracy cover fátima message , silence lúcia.
