early history
for many millennia, great plains of north america inhabited nomadic native americans. 16th century 18th century, kingdom of france claimed ownership of large parts of north america. in 1762, after french , indian war, france secretly ceded new france spain, per treaty of fontainebleau.
19th century
in 1802, spain returned of land france. in 1803, of land modern day kansas acquired united states france part of 828,000 square mile louisiana purchase 2.83 cents per acre.
in 1854, kansas territory organized, in 1861 kansas became 34th u.s. state. in 1857, dickinson county established within kansas territory, included land modern day dillon.
dillon station on missouri pacific railroad. post office opened in dillon in 1872, , remained in operation until discontinued in 1944.
