starting in 2006, cogeco cable began overhauling ontario , quebec hybrid fibre-coaxial physical plant networks expand total amount of bandwidth available. ability offer expanded 2-way bidirectional services such high definition digital cable, high-speed internet , voip digital telephony , improve network reliability driving force behind upgrade.

in december 2012, cogeco acquired peer 1 hosting, canadian-based internet infrastructure provider, specializing in managed hosting, dedicated servers, cloud services , colocation.


on october 19, 2015, cogeco announced new company name subsidiaries cogeco data services , peer 1 hosting, cogeco peer 1.


on july 10, 2017, cogeco announced subsidiary atlantic broadband has entered definitive agreement harron communications acquire of cable systems operated under name metrocast $1.4 billion.
