starting in 2006, cogeco cable began overhauling ontario , quebec hybrid fibre-coaxial physical plant networks expand total amount of bandwidth available. ability offer expanded 2-way bidirectional services such high definition digital cable, high-speed internet , voip digital telephony , improve network reliability driving force behind upgrade.


after upgrades complete, ontario network have 750 mhz of bandwidth , quebec network have 550 mhz of bandwidth. capacity, total of 110 or 83 analogue channels (depending on network) can transmitted. given each analogue channel occupies 6 mhz of bandwidth, cogeco utilizes latest compression, multiplexing , modulation technologies able transmit thirteen standard definition tv signals or else 3 high-definition tv signals on each of these channels.

on july 10, 2017, cogeco announced subsidiary atlantic broadband has entered definitive agreement harron communications acquire of cable systems operated under name metrocast $1.4 billion.
