founded on february 1, 1969, masons red owl first franchised red owl store in green bay, wisconsin. 3 years later, owners, mervin , jared mason, purchased second red owl franchise in de pere, wisconsin. @ time, masons red owl incorporated partnership mej corporation.


by 1985, green bay area witnessed introduction of several other grocery stores, including cub foods , copps food center. @ point, de pere location sold , efforts refocused on original franchise. in 1988, supervalu corporation purchased red owl’s green bay warehouse, making supplier masons red owl.


in 1989 store expanded include full-service deli department, , remained in 2009 1 of smallest full-service grocery retailers.


masons red owl faces competition in green bay area other grocers including woodman s, wal-mart, aldi, , festival foods.
