olfactory memory recollection of given smell. research has found odor memory highly persistent , has high resistance interference, meaning these memories remain within individual long times despite possible interference of other olfactory memories. these memories explicit, though implicit forms of odor memory provide understanding of memory. mammalian olfactory cues play important role in coordination of mother infant bond, , following normal development of offspring.


olfactory memory important maternal behavior. studies have shown fetus becomes familiar olfactory cues in within uterus. demonstrated research suggests newborns respond positively smell of own amniotic fluid, meaning fetuses learn these cues in womb.
