kirkcaldy galleries home town s museum , art gallery , central library. building opened in 1925 under former name of kirkcaldy museum , art gallery , extended provide main library in 1928. in 2011, building closed allow £2.4 million renovation completed in june 2013. work resulted in integration of facilities within building through single entrance , reception desk. building adopted present name.


the adam smith theatre, town s main auditorium, plays host theatrical , musical productions showing selection of arthouse , commercial films. known adam smith halls, theatre adopted present name in 1973 after renovation of building in time 250th anniversary of birth of adam smith.


the links market originated farmers market on links street, before moving present site in 1903 on promenade (then known sands road). market visits town every april , celebrated 700th anniversary in 2004. kirkcaldy has had twin-town link ingolstadt in germany since september 1962. there plans joint celebration recognise 50th anniversary of town s twinning ingolstadt in 2012.


there 3 main public parks in kirkcaldy.



beveridge park, west of town 104 acres (420,000 m) park created existing robbie s park, , land purchased raith estate. part of £50,000 bequest linen manufacturer , provost michael beveridge, died in 1890. on 24 september 1892 crowd of on 10,000 came see park s opening hosted widow, provost, magistrates, , town council of royal burgh. park includes boating lake, formal garden fountain, skateboard park, rugby ground, football pitches , woodland walks. park awarded green flag award in both 2010 , 2011.


ravenscraig park, east of town formed estate of dysart house. grounds bequeathed town linoleum manufacturer sir michael nairn in 1929. adjacent ravenscraig castle


dunnikier park, north of town, purchased town council in 1945, consists of area around dunnikier house , home numerous woodland walkways.
