tpv created following several years of research , development find new material injection molded tires. while search new tire material unsuccessful, led development of tpv, combines characteristics of vulcanized rubber processing properties of thermoplastics. first sales of developmental products in 1977, year registered monsanto, , commercialized in 1981.


part of tpe family of polymers, tpv closest in elastomeric properties epdm thermoset rubber. tpvs offer combination of elastomeric properties, compression , tension set, coupled aging performance , chemical resistance.


early successes

santoprene tpv enjoyed application successes in automotive sector, including rack , pinion boots, due flex life, fluid resistance , sealability. in appliance sector, dishwasher sump boot made santoprene tpv provided sealing , resistance heat , fluids. due sealing properties, santoprene tpv successful in domestic , high-rise construction sectors in applications such window seals, caster wheels, tubing , small hose parts, electrical connectors , coatings wire , cables. used in medical industry gasket on syringe plungers.
