the edict greek version of end of 12th edicts (which describes moral precepts) , beginning of 13th edict (which describes king s remorse , conversion after war in kalinga), makes portion of major rock edict. inscription not use language in parallel, contrary famous kandahar bilingual rock inscription in greek language , aramaic, discovered in same general area.


the greek language used in inscription of high level , displays philosophical refinement. displays in-depth understanding of political language of hellenic world in 3rd century bce. suggests presence of highly cultured greek presence in kandahar @ time.
