this corn mill stood @ old mill farm. built thomas edmeads in 19th century. in 1806 tenant millers stephen , george cannon. cannon brothers declared bankrupt in may 1816 discharged debts , returned milling. george cannon again declared bankrupt in 1823. stephen cannon had 3 sons william, george , stephen. learnt milling trade @ mill.


stephen cannon later bought mill , passed daughter harriet on death on 27 february 1856. mill remained in cannon family until 1872, , mill house until 1888. latterly mill had steam engine , tall chimney. during first world war, bomb hit mill, did not explode, although mill put out of action. mill demolished in september 1928. photographs of mill during demolition reveal cast iron low breast shot waterwheel drove 3 pairs of millstones via cast iron layshaft. original wooden upright shaft , crown wheel retained.
