2017 all-ireland senior hurling championship

in draw held on 3 july, tipperary drawn meet dublin in round 2 of qualifiers, played @ semple stadium on 8 july part of double header kilkenny against waterford being played after it. dublin unhappy match being fixed thurles. team play dublin named on 6 july , showed 2 changes team started previous match against westmeath. jason forde , john mcgrath come team in place of noel mcgrath , injured niall o meara. darren gleeson recalled in place of injured daragh mooney named on team. in match played in warm conditions, tipperary had 4-11 1-10 lead @ half-time , went on win comfortably 6-26 1-19 seamus callanan scoring 3-11.


seamus callanan scored first goal in 8 minute when collected michael breen pass , finished low , hard bottom left-hand corner. john mcgrath got next goal tipperary when bundled ball net after high ball in pauric maher. mcgrath got second when lobbed ball first-time on advancing goalkeeper after seamus callanan pass. callanan got fourth goal when pulled tight angle on right after pass bonner maher. 19 seconds second half michael breen ran half way before scoring shot roof of net. seamus callanan got sixth goal , hos third when fired home in injury-time after being set john o’dwyer. 6-26 score tipperary s highest total in 92 years of championship hurling, 1 point short of 12-9 (45 points) hit against antrim in 1925.

2017 ireland semi-final

due tipperary , waterford winning in quarter-finals , both having played waterford, draw held on 24 july decide play either galway or cork in semi-finals. tipperary drawn meet galway in semi-finals in match played @ croke park on 6 august. fourth year in row tipperary meet galway in championship. confirmed cathal barrett not returning panel remainder of season despite returning club hurling after injury. on 27 july, manager michael ryan speaking @ media event ahead of semi-final said “there no more changes panel in 2017. before match tipperary priced paddy power @ 2/1 retain all-ireland title galway slight favorites @ 15/8.

tipperary manager michael ryan speaking after game said tipperary has given there best , saluted joe canning s winning point saying needless have disappointed bunch in our dressing-room, do, put best out there , absolute best, harsh on team lose kind of match, exact reverse of happened last year . tipperary captain pádraic maher devastated defeat saying i’m absolutely devastated, lads gave everything, think did tipperary jersey proud.
