the interior of drr s caboose



within week of disneyland s opening on july 17, 1955, brakeman pulled switch connecting disneyland railroad s main line siding @ main street, u.s.a. station retlaw 2 freight train on siding passing retlaw 1 passenger train stopped @ station on main line. caboose on end of freight train had not made across switch when pulled, , result caboose s front set of wheels correctly traveled along siding while rear set of wheels incorrectly traveled along main line towards passenger train, causing caboose swing side before colliding concrete slab , derailing upon impact. during ensuing commotion, erring brakeman, presumably avoid disciplinary action, quietly left scene of accident, exited park, , not seen again. no injuries reported, , following year use of sidings @ stations on drr s main line came end.
in february 2000, tree in adventureland section fell onto drr s holiday red freight train while in motion, damaging awnings , supports on gondolas knocking off cupola on top of caboose before train came stop. no injuries occurred result of accident.
at tomorrowland station in 2004, accumulated diesel fumes in firebox of drr s no. 3 locomotive exploded after fire went out. explosion ejected engineer locomotive s cab , inflicted serious burns on fireman.
