the post office , residence located @ corner of raven , macrossan streets, close bridge on elphinstone creek. town located in mining landscape consists of disturbed ground scattered ruins , mullock heaps, set amongst distinctive chinkee apple trees , rubber vine.
the post office single storey timber building exposed stud frame, set on low stumps. has hipped, corrugated iron roof , surrounded on 3 sides verandahs supported on paired timber posts. verandahs have diagonal timber balustrading , cast iron valance. on right hand side partially enclosed .
the front verandah , entrance post office , store reached steps classically inspired central entrance formed of triangular timber pediment supported square timber pillars. imposing effect created entrance diminished presence of 3 petrol bowsers in front of stairs.
the residence @ rear of post office built of similar materials. surrounded verandahs, has pyramid roof of corrugated iron , connected post office short walkway.
