this round structure has no central support system of timbers. exception of timbers on lower level, no structural member more 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) thick. main floor raised above surrounding ground, , lower level, @ grade. exterior covered vertical wood siding, painted white.


the lower level made of studs 2 6 on center. joists span in various directions make platform second level. @ level main drum has studs rhythmically spaced angle bracing reaching upper first roof plate. these braces paired , spaced , have intermediate stiffening diagonals. each upper drum rests on laminated sill/plate, apparently acts tension ring.


an earthen ramp slopes main entrance upper level on west side. doorway in projecting bay low gambrel roof. has 2 sliding wooden doors consisting of 3 horizontal panels, diagonally bracing in top , bottom panels. @ grade access provided on north side. pair of wooden doors once hung shed roof overhang, has been removed. barn roof series of truncated cones. cupola has conical cap. roof covered in gray asphalt shingles. overhanging eaves have exposed rafters , fascia. small windows provide light , ventilation on main , lower floor. @ loft level, there small, square, fixed windows around building. in cupola, square, louvered vents]] have replaced windows, same shape @ loft level.
