biography
early life

tegmark born in sweden, son of karin tegmark , american-born professor emeritus of mathematics harold s. shapiro. graduated royal institute of technology in stockholm, sweden , stockholm school of economics , later received phd university of california, berkeley. after having worked @ university of pennsylvania, @ massachusetts institute of technology. while in high school, tegmark , friend created , sold word processor written in pure machine code swedish eight-bit computer abc 80, , 3d tetris-like game.


career

his research has focused on cosmology, combining theoretical work new measurements place constraints on cosmological models , free parameters, in collaboration experimentalists. has on 200 publications, of 9 have been cited on 500 times. has developed data analysis tools based on information theory , applied them cosmic microwave background experiments such cobe, qmap, , wmap, , galaxy redshift surveys such las campanas redshift survey, 2df survey , sloan digital sky survey.
