ricardo born on 16 september 1874, in san antonio eloxochitlán, oaxaca, indigenous mazatec community. father, teodoro flores, zapotec indian , mother, margarita magón mestiza. couple met each other in 1863 during siege of puebla when both carrying munitions mexican troops.


magón explored writings , ideas of many anarchists, such mikhail bakunin , pierre-joseph proudhon, influenced anarchist contemporaries Élisée reclus, charles malato, errico malatesta, anselmo lorenzo, emma goldman, , fernando tarrida del mármol. influenced peter kropotkin. read works of karl marx , henrik ibsen.


he 1 of major thinkers of mexican revolution , mexican revolutionary movement in partido liberal mexicano. flores magón organised industrial workers of world (iww) , edited mexican anarchist newspaper regeneración, aroused workers against dictatorship of porfirio díaz.


kropotkin s conquest of bread, flores magón considered kind of anarchist bible, served basis short-lived revolutionary communes in baja california during magonista revolt of 1911.


the magón brothers family of modest means in oaxaca , 3 studied law @ escuela nacional de jurisprudencia (today faculty of law of unam). ricardo attended escuela nacional preparatoria. during time, participated in student opposition president porfirio diaz , jailed 5 months. nevertheless, graduated , transferred national school of law. while there, worked proofreader student newspaper el demócrata , narrowly escaped arrest when entire staff arrested police. in hiding 3 months continued studies , received law degree in 1895 , passed examination of barra mexicana-colegio de abogados (mexican bar , advocate s college). practiced law short time , continued study higher degree expelled school in 1898 because of political activities. in 1900, , brother jesús founded newspaper el regeneración in ricardo wrote numerous articles attacking diaz. wrote articles opposition periodicals excelsior, la república mexicana, , el hijo del ahuizote. joined plm in 1900.
