your majesty s racing career began @ royal ascot in june 1907, when finished unplaced in 5 furlong new stakes behind sir archibald. following month showed first sign of promise when finished second vamose in prince of wales s stakes @ goodwood. majesty s remaining starts of 1907 took place @ newmarket. recorded first win in boscawen stakes , contested 2 of season s prestigious two-year-old races. in 6 furlong middle park stakes unplaced behind lesbia, filly had dead-heated vamose in imperial produce stakes. in late october majesty ran unplaced in 7 furlong dewhurst stakes. won filly rhodora.


1908: three-year-old season

in 2000 guineas @ newmarket in may 2008, majesty lost great deal of ground @ start before finishing take sixth place behind american-bred norman, won sir archibald , white eagle. colt trained derby withdrawn race after contacting strangles, bacterial respiratory infection.


in summer of 1908, jack joel brought prosecution blackmail against robert bob sievier, racehorse owner , trainer. joel claimed during sievier s time proprietor of newspaper called winning post , had attempted extract money joel in return not publishing potentially damaging stories. british public appear have sided london-born sievier , became hostile towards joel who, foreigner , jew, regarded outsider.


your majesty returned racecourse st. james s palace stakes @ royal ascot. ridden nineteen-year-old walter griggs, started @ odds of 8/1 , recorded first important success. matched against older horses , in ten furlong eclipse stakes @ sandown park on 17 july. £10,000 race 1 of important of season , majesty 100/8 outsider in field in lesbia , white eagle considered main contenders. despite heavy rain, race attracted large crowd included king although jack joel stayed away. in race, griggs struggled find clear run majesty in straight , switched colt wide outside. more fancied horses struggled in closing stages, majesty produced strong run take lead , won 2 lengths fellow three-year-olds santo starto , siberia. result received storm of execration pro-sievier crowd , winner returned savage outburst of hoots , groans .


your majesty confirmed position leading contender st leger winning st george stakes @ liverpool. @ doncaster on 9 september, majesty started well-backed 11/8 favourite st leger against 9 opponents including norman , filly signorinetta, winner of derby , oaks. ridden usual griggs settled in sixth place before moving fourth on final turn. took lead pacemaker pom in straight , established clear advantage. in closing stages challenged white eagle, ran on under strong pressure win half length gap of 4 lengths santo strato in third. despite winner being heavily backed public, griggs , majesty returned winner s enclosure in described chilling silence . griggs, regularly rode colt in training, described majesty after race gamest horse ever rode .


at end of year, majesty s earnings of £19,268 greatest british horse in 1908 enabling persimmon claim third sires championship whilst joel became british flat racing champion owner first time , morton claimed trainers title.


1909: four-year-old season

your majesty remained in training four-year-old, did little add reputation, , became difficult train. notable performance came on 1 july when finished third behind dark ronald in princess of wales s stakes @ newmarket s july course. later in month unplaced in eclipse stakes behind leading three-year-old bayardo. late in season reportedly broke down , withdrawn remaining engagements. despite modest form in 1909 still highly regarded , joel reportedly turned down offer of £35,000 horse.
