andrew s first wife, gertrude of merania, born around 1185, according historian gyula kristó. first child, mary, born in 1203 or 1204. became wife of ivan asen ii of bulgaria. andrew s eldest son, béla, born in 1206. later succeeded father king. béla s younger sister, elisabeth, born in 1207. married louis iv, landgrave of thuringia. died in 1231 , canonized during andrew s life. andrew s second son, coloman, born in 1208. third son, andrew, born around 1210. coloman , andrew each ruled principality of halych short period.

two years after first wife murdered, andrew married yolanda de courtenay, born around 1198. child, yolanda, born around 1219 , married james of aragon. andrew s third wife, beatrice d este, twenty-three when married in 1234. gave birth son, stephen, after andrew s death. however, andrew s 2 older sons, béla , coloman, accused of adultery , considered child bastard. grandson, andrew, became last monarch of house of Árpád.
