over years, several structures built design similar or inspired de redin towers. 1 of earliest examples torre dello standardo, tower located near mdina s main gate, forming part of city s fortifications. tower used signalling purposes, communicate coastal watchtowers. built in 1725 architect charles françois de mondion, on site of medieval torre mastra (which had same function), part of project restore city after 1693 sicily earthquake. design similar de redin towers, of finer construction, more importance being given decorative elements such escutcheons. today, tower in condition , used tourist information centre.



falkun tower


another structure design similar de redin towers falkun tower (maltese: torri falkun), located @ montekristo estates in Ħal farruġ, limits of siġġiewi. tower, along other parts of montekristo estates, constructed illegally without necessary permits. supposed have been demolished in november 2013, courts stopped planning authority mepa carrying out demolition. since failed attempt @ demolishing tower , other illegal structures, new roofing works carried out on tower, while more illegal structures constructed elsewhere in montekristo estates. tower began dismantled according mepa orders in april 2016.
