the united states , ireland entered preinspection arrangement in 1986. shannon airport offered immigration checks, customs , agriculture inspections done on arrival in united states—a procedure more known preinspection. in august 2009, shannon opened addition preclearance facility provided customs , agriculture inspections. facilities @ dublin airport, @ shannon, offered immigration checks on select flights. in january 2011, section of opened terminal 2 dedicated preclearance opened full cbp facilities. both airports allow u.s.-bound commercial flights use preclearance facilities arrive @ domestic terminals instead of international terminals, in turn allows arriving passengers leave airports upon landing without further inspection. since march 2010, shannon preclearance facility available use private aircraft; dublin facility available commercial flights. following executive order 13769, introduced ban on passport-holders of 7 countries traveling united states, irish government announced there complete review of preclearance arrangements.
