a formal inquiry de león s life possible canonization begun in 19th century, ceased. cause reopened in 1992 , has been submitted vatican. remains pending. supporters of cause dismayed lack of progress, despite document 1771 lists 1,251 miracles attributed intercession.


although has not yet been officially canonized, veneration of sister mary of jesus has become equivalent in canary islands in cult of saint teresa of jesus in rest of spain, saint catherine of siena in italy , saint rose of lima in peru , latin america.
