formation

we fallen began forming when moody had discussions evanescence band members gray , lecompt band moving in different direction planned. moody felt had change in order preserve style of music , left due creative differences amy lee, band s co-founder , frontwoman. years later when gray , lecompt left band, moody reached out them in attempts continue had left off in 2003 fallen, recruiting o brien in process. band held auditions looking lead singer in new york city , moody feared search band s soulmate going take long time due exhaustive process. moody s roommate showed him videos online of smithson performing rendition of evanescence s bring me life coincidentally song singers used audition moody , band. ben introduced smithson developing solo album after tour american idol.


moody , smithson discussed wanted musically , discovered needs identical . smithson felt idol family audience wasn t creatively , musically best @ time. stated trying make solo album lonely , there’s 4 other people bring sorts of different things table , musically s trying ... heavy rock great melodies. told carly right. had great voice, has incredibly strong presence, kind of presence big enough handle band does, both musically , visually. because of that, perfect , ben moody said later.


we fallen officially debuted on june 22, 2009 launch of official website. fans register email address @ website receive free download of first single, bury me alive . first 100,000 registrants qualified download. response free download overwhelmed database , song made available via free stream on myspace page while worked send emails qualified.


the band had confront inevitable comparisons evanescence. think farther go, more distinct 2 [bands] become each other... re different don t see being of issue , ben moody told kerrang! magazine in april 2010.

the band planned release 2 songs free on internet every 2 months , afterward compiling them onto record orchestral interludes. planned tour theaters across u.s. rather clubs or arenas focus on performance elements go beyond music.


these plans changed when announced fallen signed record deal universal republic records on october 28, 2009 release of full-length debut album. band released remastered version of original single, bury me alive , on february 2, 2010, include orchestral outro extending song full minute. song available purchase exclusively online @ digital media outlets. on same day, band set additional free download acoustic version of bury me alive @ website. video song premiered on march 25, 2010 on aol s noisecreep website. song s popularity grew; vampire diaries used song in previews television show s season finale. bury me alive featured on rumor has it, episode of television show hills.


we fallen performed 28-city concert tour in u.s. finnish rock band him finishing in new york on may 9, 2010. debut concert held @ king s college in london, england in front of 200-person crowd on march 23, 2010. following tour him, band headlined own 14-city concert tour in u.s. , europe. band appeared @ download festival @ donington in 2010. fallen performed @ cirque des damnés show @ avalon theater in hollywood, california on january 22, 2011. dvd , live album show slated release later in year.


the band s debut album, tear world down, released on may 10, 2010 in uk , may 11, 2010 in u.s. debuted , peaked @ number 33 on billboard 200.


ben moody revealed in facebook posting band dropped universal republic on may 27, 2011.


post-universal republic records

the band released in january 2012 digital version of cirque des damnés concert performed previous year. plan release 2 eps, 1 new music written band, , 1 cover songs of 80s rock songs.


on may 20, 2012, guitarist ben moody uploaded video onto youtube account. video consisted of ben moody , lead singer carly smithson explaining future plans band. ben stated has written enough material 1 , half new albums. said guitarist john lecompt , drummer rocky gray have been writing music. carly said has written killer hit has yet preview rest of band.
