millennium square


leeds city centre has 4 main public squares being park square, city square, armouries square , millennium square.


smaller squares exist, including dortmund square, st peters square, queen square, woodhouse square , hanover square. while rest of leeds has large open parks, city centre lacks , free recreational space contained within these squares. since 2000, both city square , millennium square have been redeveloped hard landscaping. in interview martin wainwright, northern editor of guardian, architect irena bauman, praised city square being designed , used public space, criticised plaza tower development lack of public space, stating space made available service vehicles.
