with end of kosovo war, serbian members of university of pristina moved faculties north mitrovica. assistance of united nations mission in kosovo (umnik), established university of pristina, mitrovica, started operations in 1999. university of pristina, mitrovica comprises ten faculties, 7 of located in mitrovica. mitrovica campus hosts faculties for: economics, medicine, law, mathematics , natural science, technical science, arts , philosophy. faculty of agriculture situated in zubin potok , lesak, faculty teacher training faculty physical education , sports situated in leposavic.


in 2009, mitrovica-based faculties of university of pristina, mitrovica had 3889 full-time students, 3216 part-time students, 582 academic staff , 249 technical staff.


the university of pristina, mitrovica maintaining multidisciplinary research centre. since university of pristina operates under serbian law, subject rules, standards , procedures of commission accreditation , quality assurance of republic of serbia. university of pristina, mitrovica, regularly evaluated iep (institutional evaluation program).


the university of pristina, mitrovica includes multidisciplinary research centre. maintains several cooperations, such through european commission founded seventh framework programme (fp7), european science foundation , tempus.

the founding of university of mitrovica part of wider kosovo government initiative facilitate access through higher education throughout kosovo. initiative included opening of universities besides university of pristina in prizren, peja, mitrovica , gjilan.


the programs accredited kaa in 2012.


before opening of university of mitrovica, mitrovica hosted faculty of applied technical sciences of university of pristina (fats).


fats cooperated german tu bergakademie freiberg , hochschule ruhr west.


the rector of university of mitrovica mr. alush musa. in academic year 2014/15 university of mitrovica had 2700 students enrolled, have worked 80 professors , assistants full-time, , 105 part times.


the corner stone new building existing faculties in mitrovica laid @ 26.12.2012. new building existing faculty costed 1.600.000 euro. new public university of mitrovica – it’s campuses – planned cost 14.000.000 euro.

mitrovica hosts faculties of private fama college. per decision of kosovo accreditation agency, following mitrovica based fama programs accredited 2013:

an attempt fama offer bachelor s degree programs in nursing , bio medical laboratories failed in 2012, since kaa rejected accrediting these programs.


international business college mitrovica (ibcm)

the international business college (ibcm) founded dutch foundation spark in 2010. ibcm operates 2 campusses, 1 in north mitrovica , 1 in south mitrovica. in october 2012, ibcm had 312 students.


ibcm financed governments of sweden, denmark, netherlands, switzerland, european union , united kingdom. result of our strong connections in europe, ibcm programmes designed prepare whatever future career envision – either locally or internationally.


ibcm offers internationally accredited 3.5 year bachelor s degrees , 2 year academy profession (ap) degrees in:



marketing , management ap level
international sales , marketing ba level
public administration ap level
public service management ba level
environmental , agricultural management ap & ba level

the programs can completed after 2 years academy profession (ap) degrees or after 3,5 years bachelor s degrees.

since ibcm opened in 2010 operated in rented facilities in north , south mitrovica. ibcm north campus moved permanent location in december 2013.
