chain stitches catch loop of thread on surface of fabric. in simplest of looped stitches, chain stitch, needle comes of fabric , needle goes same hole came out of, pulling loop of thread through back; before loop disappears, needle come (a distance beginning stitch -the distance deciding length of stitch), passes through loop , prevents being pulled of fabric. needle passes back of fabric through second hole , begins stitch again. examples of chain stitches are:
chain stitch
lazy daisy stitch, or detached chain. loop stitch held fabric @ wide end tiny tacking stitch.
spanish chain or zig-zag chain
