quilmes ac in 1949, when winning primera b title


the team played in primera b until 1949 when quilmes won title promoting primera. quilmes finished season scored goals during tournament (118). in 1959 club changed name again, turning spanish denomination quilmes atlético club has remained since.


after being relegated again in 1951, quilmes won second division championship , promoted primera, after football association stated newell s old boys (who had finished first , proclaimed champion) promised excursionistas amount of money if defeated quilmes. result, title given quilmes (which had finished 2nd after newell s) promoted primera instead of rosarino team.


quilmes lasted season @ top division, being relegated in 1962 , returning primera 3 years later, along champion colón de santa fe. club relegated again in 1970. 5 years later, quilmes won primera b title, promoting along champion san telmo.


in 1978 quilmes won torneo metropolitano, being title in primera date. team, coached josé yudica, had notable players such jorge gáspari, horacio milozzi, top-scorer luis andreuchi , omar el indio gómez, considered greatest idol in club s history. next year quilmes played 1979 copa libertadores team did not qualify second round being eliminated.
