measurements , weight
during development of estonian satellite mission decided make 1u cubesat. standard 1 unit (1u) cubesat base side length must 100.0±0.1 millimeters , satellite height must 113.5±0.1 mm. mass set in cubesat standard, highest possible mass 1u cubesat 1300 grams.
communications
communication satellite made @ 2 international amateur radio unions registered frequencies
437.250 mhz
437.505 mhz
periodic slow communication made using 18 wpm telegraphy signal on frequency of 437.250 mhz. @ frequency, important satellite parameters returned every 3 10 minutes. fast connections fsk-modulation radio signals on frequency of 437.505 mhz 9600 baud connection speed , ax.25 packet standard used. relatively slow connection speeds result use of amateur radio frequencies limits bandwidth 25 kilohertz. fast connection used when satellite has been given specific order. both telegraphy , packet telemetry protocols of estcube-1 published on project webpage.
commands sent satellite used 145 mhz (2 meter) amateur band.
software
estcube-1 microcontrollers use following operating systems:
freertos on satellite s command , data handling system , camera module.
tinyos on satellite s communication module. (typically used devices running on low power)
mission control system being developed students of tartu university under supervision of company cgi group.
