the champawat tiger man-eating tigress supposedly killed 200 men , women before being driven out of nepal. moved champawat district in state of uttarakhand in north india, , continued kill, bringing total human kills 436. tracked down , killed in 1907. known enter villages, during daylight, roaring , causing people flee in panic huts.

a story discovered pune-based author sureshchandra warghade when ran old villager in bhimashankar forest lies near pune. villager explained author how man-eating tiger terrorized entire bhimashakar area during span of 2 years in 1940s. police constable in area , had been responsible dealing formalities surrounding deaths (missing person reports , death certificates) , other jobs such helping hunting parties. during time tiger supposedly killed more 100 people, apparently careful avoid discovery; 2 bodies ever found. several hunting parties organized 1 succeed ambegaon-based hunter named ismail. during first attempt, ismail had direct confrontation tiger , killed. later called kenneth anderson. returned , eliminated man-eater. tiger predominately killed villagers slept outside huts.
the authenticity of story told villager confirmed when warghade examined official reports, including certificate given british authorities killing man-eating tiger.
tara of dudhwa national park
while sundarbans particularly known tiger attacks, dudhwa national park had several man-eaters in late 1970s. first death on 2 march 1978, closely followed 3 further kills.
the population demanded action authorities. locals wanted man-eater shot or poisoned. killings continued, each 1 making headlines. officials started believe culprit tigress called tara. conservationist billy arjan singh had taken british-born cat twycross zoo , raised in india, goal of releasing wild. experiments had been carried out on leopards success.

problems @ dudhwa have been minor in past few years. occasional tiger attacks still occur, these no higher @ other wildlife reserves. on average, 2 villagers attacked @ ranthambhore tiger reserve each year. these attacks occur during monsoon season when locals enter reserve collect grass.
tigress of moradabad
in february 2014, reports emerged tigress had killed 7 people near jim corbett national park. tigress later called man-eater of moradabad, because hunting in bijnor , moradabad region. tigress not traced 50 camera traps , unmanned aerial vehicle. in august 2014, reported tigress had stopped killing humans. last victim killed in february, total of 7 victims. animal remained untraced.
