on appreciation night, number of outstanding schools acknowledged , awarded ministry of education. event attended notable alumni many of whom prominent figures outstanding companies in malaysia , doing excel in political field. besides long tradition night, smesh has long tradition value of merit , demerit system every houses. each of students member of respected houses. house system distinguished sport houses dominantly resembling fraternity house. formerly, there 5 houses later reduced 4 houses named after sabah prominent statesmen. prepared necessary leadership skills, head of house attend ministry s leadership course known kursus ketua rumah sekolah berasrama penuh (kesuma).
