shah shoja proved less of tyrannic figure, fighting brothers, causing long period of instability. in 1363 marched against first brother shah mahmud, had been given control of isfahan, although peace brokered. in following year however, shah mahmud, support of father-in-law shaikh uvais of jalayirids, invaded fars , captured shiraz. shah shoja not able reconquer capital until 1366. shah mahmud continue play , influential role in iranian politics, using marriage alliance claim tabriz jalayirids after shaikh uvais died in 1374. occupied city gave after struck illness. died next year, allowing shah shoja occupy isfahan.


shah shoja marched on tabriz himself, forced turn when internal conditions in fars deteriorated. second brother shah muzaffar s son, shah yahya, rose in revolt in isfahan. having make peace jalayirids, shah shoja offered marry son zain al-abidin sister of jalayirid ruler husain. jalayirids refused offer , invaded, although shah shoja managed prevent them getting further sultaniyya. before dying in 1384, named son zain al-abidin successor , third brother imad ad-din ahmad governor of kirman. not satisfied arrangement, shah yahya advanced against shiraz, expelled isfahan city s populace , forced flee yazd. on deathbed, shah shoja wrote letter timur, campaigning in azerbaijan, in gave sons loyalty conqueror.
