Plot overview The X-Files (season 2)

dana scully (gillian anderson) reassigned teach @ fbi academy while fox mulder (david duchovny) given lowly surveillance assignments. after investigates extraterrestrial cases @ arecibo observatory in puerto rico, mulder given new partner, alex krycek (nicholas lea), , meets secretive informant, x (steven williams). mulder recruited assist in hostage negotiation when duane barry, alien abductee, captures 4 people. barry kidnaps scully, believing if brings original abduction site, skyland mountain, aliens take instead of him. mulder follows delayed krycek, revealed mole working cigarette smoking man (william b. davis). when mulder reaches skyland mountain, scully gone. barry, insists aliens took him, dies after interrogation krycek. when krycek vanishes, skinner re-opens x-files, claiming conspirators fear most.


scully turns comatose in hospital 3 months later no explanation how got there. x provides mulder information allowing him take revenge on captors, mulder instead convinced scully s sister melissa visit bedside. scully recovers , returns work shortly thereafter. agents later investigate case involving alien biology being injected teenagers in wisconsin, , once again encounter deep throat s killer, killed local sheriff.


when investigating case involving murder of identical doctors, agents come across shapeshifting alien bounty hunter (brian thompson) responsible executing series of alien clones. during case grown woman claiming mulder s sister samantha appears, telling mulder of bounty hunter s objectives , has ability identify him. when scully kidnapped bounty hunter, mulder forced trade samantha her. during botched attempt kill bounty hunter, samantha killed. however, discovered 1 of many alien clones of samantha. of x, mulder pursues bounty hunter submarine in arctic. mulder killed when exposed bounty hunter s toxic blood, saved scully.


when hacker downloads decades worth of classified information aliens onto digital tape, gives mulder, finds entire tape written in navajo. cigarette smoking man begins searching tape , visits mulder s father, calls mulder see him shortly afterwards. before can reveal mulder however, murdered alex krycek. scully brings mulder new mexico introduces him albert hosteen, code-talker can translate digital tape. albert s grandson shows mulder boxcar filled alien corpses. cigarette smoking man tracks mulder s location , orders boxcar burned.
