with opening of riverside high school, loudoun county has 15 high schools. 2 high schools, loudoun valley , broad run, 2 stories. loudoun county (1954), oldest high school, can hold around 1,370 students, loudoun valley (1962) , broad run (1969) can hold around 1390-1410 (loudoun valley , broad run built similar design), although broad run can hold more because has 9 trailers on site of 2012, park view (1976) can hold 1370 , potomac falls (1997) can hold 1400. potomac falls design has been used every high school in loudoun county built after it, bigger auditorium , more classrooms. stone bridge (2000), heritage (2002), briar woods (2005), freedom (2005), , woodgrove (2010) can hold 1600 students. dominion high school (2003) exception 1,600 capacity rule; school structurally designed 1,600 students, however, because site of academy of science, actual student capacity dominion high school 1,350, , remaining seats designated academy of science students. opening of tuscarora high school (2010), new high schools still use potomac falls design template 1800 student capacity. when riverside high school (hs-8) opened in 2015 had 1,600 student capacity not standard 1,800 because of little increase in student population foreseen in ashburn area.

loudoun county has 16 middle schools, of typically feed 1 high school currently, or in near future. older middle schools such simpson, blue ridge, sterling, , seneca ridge able carry 1,000 students, have gone or going through expansion projects allow them carry 1,200 students once projects complete. older schools trying modernize building placing ordimental designs throughout school. newer middle schools built since 1995 when farmwell station opened typically have capacities of 1,200 1,350 students depending on age of building , how fast growth around particular school when school opened. since opening of j. michael lunsford, middle schools built two-story design can carry 1,350 students.

willard intermediate school (ms-7) in aldie open in fall of 2018 off of braddock road in willowsford community.
independence high school (hs-11) in brambleton open in fall of 2019 off of learning circle; co-located brambleton middle school.
lightridge high school (hs-9) in aldie open in fall of 2020 off of lightridge farm road; outside of willowsford community.
intermediate schools
lcps had 1 previous intermediate school (harmony intermediate school, harmony middle school) in western part of county served 8th , 9th graders. temporary concept relieve crowding @ blue ridge middle school , loudoun valley high school ended after woodgrove high school opened in fall 2010.
mercer middle school temporarily transition 6-8 middle school building 6-7 lower intermediate building. transition take place in 2018 in conjunction opening of new willard intermediate school in aldie. new school temporarily operate upper intermediate building, serving 8-9 grade students until lightridge high school opens. relieve overcrowding in nearby john champe high school.

lcps has 51 elementary schools, community based, on half of them opening in last 10 years. newer elementary schools throughout county can carry approximately 800 875 students. older elementary schools in eastern part of county can carry anywhere 400–600 students. there rural elementary schools in loudoun county well, of them in western part of county. smaller in size , older facilities, typically holding enrollments of 100–150 students. since opening of buffalo trail elementary school, elementary schools built two-story design can carry 875 students.
