Taylor-Massey Project Friends of the Don East



one of group s ongoing projects has been restoration of taylor-massey creek watershed. of naturalization projects include goulding estate on dawes road , parts of warden woods.


in 2003, fode started taylor massey project. project s main goal highlight issues , concerns affect entire watershed. fode created web-based portal divides watershed 12 parts called reaches. each reach described using series of aerial photos. project goal create walking trail along entire length of taylor-massey creek.


the project intends improve poor water quality of creek , environment of surrounding area, raise awareness of watershed issues in neighbouring communities, , create trail along length of creek.


in 2008, main volunteers had founded tmp , taken group out of fode group submitted 49-page plan rehabilitating watershed, reach reach, city of toronto. five-year, c$4,275,000 plan called bike , walking trails, additional forest cover, regeneration of 4 degraded reaches, , creation of community steward groups. plan first comprehensive community-organized watershed regeneration plan in ontario.
